MEPRA was born in 1901, founded by the brothers Bartolo, Francesco and Giovanbattista, who created the first company of the Prandelli family. The core business was metalworking, and during the Second World War, production mainly included bullets for the Italian army. At the end of the world conflict, the sons had to convert the factory and founded Mepra, whose acronym refers to Metallurgica Prandelli. The three new brothers divided the tasks within the new company, and moved the core business to the production of cutlery. After an initial attempt to produce items in steel and brass, the company decided to work only with steel and chose the elephant as the company symbol, to indicate the resistance and durability of their products. Today Mepra is a symbol of Made in Italy for the table, cutlery and kitchen utensils even at high levels, and collaborates with the most exclusive designers, also taking care of the aesthetics of its collections. Cutlery is no longer a mere table utensil, but a design object.
